Iconógrafos – 14 Fotógrafos Hoje, held at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo. Curated by Eduardo Brandão, the exhibition brought together a generation of photographers who were redefining the role of photography within Brazil’s contemporary art scene. The show marked an important institutional moment for the medium at MAM-SP, and then at EAV/Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro, contributing to the consolidation of photography within the broader discourse of contemporary art in the early 1990s.
