EXHIBITION
CARA DA CASA
Casa da Ribeira, Natal, Brazil - 1999
Presented at Casa da Ribeira in Natal, Cara da Casa featured a photographic series developed from within the exhibition space itself — a historic building undergoing transformation. The black-and-white images captured the interior in its raw state: peeling walls, exposed structures, worn wooden floors, open voids, and visible traces of time.
Beyond architectural documentation, the exhibition proposed a reflection on memory, permanence, and reconstruction. The dialogue between natural light and material — brick, wood, iron — revealed layered histories, suggesting the building as a living organism suspended between ruin and reinvention.
The installation engaged directly with the site, expanding the immersive experience and creating a subtle interplay between representation and presence. Cara da Casa transformed the space into subject, medium, and protagonist of the work.
